Metal variable area flow meters up to 300 bar show the flow of oil on a scale, without power supply. They suit oil lines with a high pressure or with oils of different viscosities. Viscosity compensation keeps one scale valid for oils from 30 to 600 cSt (centistokes) on most models. When the oil or the pressure changes, the scale needs no recalibration. The smallest flow range, 0.1 to 0.8 l/min, is limited to 400 cSt.

The body material sets the pressure rating: nickel-plated brass up to 250 bar (≈3630 psi), stainless steel up to 300 bar (≈4350 psi). All models have a G 1" female thread and can be mounted in any position.

The oil must be free of solid particles. Magnetic particles can also cause faults, so fit a dirt trap with a double screen or a magnetic filter in front of the meter. For an electrical signal at a set flow as well as the reading, choose a metal variable area flow meter with switch contact.
